Linear timeline
Hey you!
Welcome to my archive. This archive will take you on a journey through time. My time during the minor, but also my conception of time. For me as a mechanical engeineering time is very lineair and predictable. The smaller timestepes we make as an engineering in calculations, the more accurate the answer is.

In this archive I've explored a different way to see time. I've created a timeline in which time is not 1D, but 2D. This means that the timeline doesn't go straight anymore. In this way I can bring together points in time which look very far apart, but in terms of emotions/concepts/knowledges are closer together than you might first think. In this way you(see the definition of the audience in the picture on the right) can explore on which times of the minor a felt most connection to the past.

The lineair timeline is also included in this archive. In this way you can make your own non-lineair timeline(see below how I created the timeline) with my archive entries. There are so many more connections in time than I have managed to capture in my timeline.

The key concept of this archive is that time is different for everyone and influences an experience very much
Creation of archive
Step 1: documenting

I've started documenting immediately after the introduction of the archive(see word document bolow on the left). The documenting was started on a word document in which I described every week what literature I read/listened to, which discussions I had, the reflection of the sessions on Monday, my out of the ordinary experiences and the perspective of Delft.

Literature: During the whole minor most literature I interacted with was podcasts. While biking to Rotterdam from Delft I had enough TIME to listen to podcasts and acquire knew knowledge.

Discussions: When I started this minor I really wanted to start discussions/conversations with the people from the minor. In the way I wanted to learn/hear about different ways that people think/different ideologies. Due to lack of TIME after the first two weeks, I didn’t really get the chance to have many discussions.

Reflection: In the part I wrote down the thoughts of the sessions of Monday. Sometimes it was hard for me to follow all the information that was given to me during this sessions, so the best way for me to reflect on the sessions was to write down my thoughts. That’s also why I feel like this archive is personal, because I’m not used to writing down my thoughts.
Out of the ordinary experience: This part really started when I found out during the minor that I sometime hallucinate during the day when I’m tired. Due to lack of TIME I sometimes didn’t get enough sleep before the sessions and when I lost track of the story that was told, I sometimes doze off a little while keeping my eyes open. Then I suddenly realised that I was seeing things that weren’t there. For the last few weeks I’ve been reflecting on this discovery and seeing that it is very closely related to TIME and sleep.

Perspective of Delft: During the minor I’ve talked to a lot of people outside of the minor about the minor. I documented the reactions of those people. It does not only include reactions from Delft, but also from for example from my parents who live somewhere else.

In the last week looked back at all the experience and filled in the word document again, but this time with thoughts and experience which I later realized I also had about these weeks. (See word document on the right)

Step 2: creating linear timeline

Next I created the linear timeline with al the entries from my documentation on hotglue. You can see the linear timeline on the other hotglue page. In this timeline I separated the live documentation(above) from the reflective documentation(below). I also added ‘week 0’, this is the week with all the principles from the minor.
Linear timeline
Step 3: making connections in the linear timeline

In this step I made the connections through time, based on thoughts, knowledges and other connection of the entries. The lines mean that these entries are closer to each other than time would suggest. See the result below.

Upper blue line: represents the connection of (disruption in) education
Upper red line: the hallucination experiences
Yellow line: Disagreements of the sessions on Monday
Purple line: The questions I had about my own live during the minor/things that I saw/experienced differently during the minor.
Lower red line: General reflection on sessions on Monday
Green line: experience of the locations
Brown line: Discussions
Step 4: reshaping the timeline
During the last step I reshaped the timeline. I did this by documenting which weeks in general lie closer to each other due to the connections. Then I experimented with different forms of the timeline, in which the most connected weeks lie closer to each other. You can see the process in the picture below. I then reshaped my Hotglue timeline in a non-linear way. See the link below
